How to Use HFLI Lessons

Home Fellowship Leaders, International is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization. It is committed to nurture and build up the body of Christ by providing lessons and instructions for the home fellowships. Its purpose is to serve the small groups of believers who meet in homes in different countries around the world.

Through the years of working with home fellowships we have seen development from a small Bible study group meeting in homes to a spiritual family of dedicated believers, disciples of Jesus Christ.

 This booklet “Home Fellowship Guide” is for you to study before you start the group. It is going to instruct you on how to lead the group. “12 Lessons for the Group and Instructions for the Leaders“ are for your meetings. After you have used these materials and sent us your “Leader’s Report” forms you can order more “Lessons for the Group and Instructions for the Leaders” (the materials are free). We need to hear from you and receive the reports in order to know your needs and also to encourage other groups by sharing your victories.

These lessons were designed to get you started in leading a home group. Most important is to learn to depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. You don’t need to be experienced or to be a great Bible scholar. But you do need to have a desire to be a spiritual father or mother. You need to discern spiritual needs of people. Then you can tailor our lessons to their needs.

Use these lessons creatively. You can change the questions or make a lesson shorter. Choose what you can cover in about 40 min of discussion. Make sure your meetings are not too long! Start with very short meetings (50 min.-1 hour) and then increase time to 1-1 ½ hours. You are free to choose any lesson depending on the needs of your group. Eventually, you will learn to just take a topic that would be interesting for the group, find a Scripture for it and study it yourself. Then, at the meeting, start asking people what do they think about it and get the discussion going. You’ll be amazed to see how the Holy Spirit will work through the believers to reveal His Word and His truth.

We offer you a book of instructions and 12 lessons free of charge. 12 lessons should be enough for about 3 months of weekly meetings. By that time, as your group grows and develops into a spiritual family, you will have to teach people about financial responsibility. The Bible teaches us to worship the Lord with tithes and offerings (Mal. 3:10-12) and to share good things with those who instruct you in the Word (Gal. 6:6). Ask the Lord if He will lead you to send offerings to HFLI as your missionary project. This will help us to send lessons not only to home groups in USA, but also to Russia, India, and other countries. This way you will be our partners in the work that we do. We would be sending out a newsletter where we’ll share with you what your financial support will be used for (leaders should not take offerings for your personal use).

In order to receive more lessons and instructions for the leaders, fill out the Partner’s request form at the end of this book and send it to us. You’ll have an opportunity to give so you can also receive (Luke 6:38).

Please fill out the “Leader’s Report” forms after each meeting and send them to us quarterly. Also send us your testimonies; share with us your victories and questions. Some of the testimonies of God’s work in your lives will be published in the newsletter, as well as the answers to your questions, and the progress of small groups in our spiritual family. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
